The speaker starts a sentence, stops mid-way, and then repeats it from the beginning — often with a corrected word or better delivery. EditLint AI identifies the false start and marks it as a candidate for removal, keeping the completed, cleaner take.
The speaker makes the same point twice within a short window, using different wording. Semantic similarity scoring identifies when two sentences carry the same meaning even if they share few words. The higher-scoring take is recommended for keeping.
The speaker begins a thought, trails off with filler words or a pause, then restarts with the intended sentence. False starts are flagged separately from retakes because they're often shorter and the restart is clearly stronger. Both are shown together so you can choose the right cut point.
When two or more versions of the same content are detected, EditLint AI scores each candidate on four criteria and surfaces the highest-scoring take as its recommendation. You always have the final say.

Local Whisper transcription produces a word-level transcript with timestamps. This is the same transcription used for filler word detection and captions, so if you've already transcribed the clip, the result is reused automatically.
The transcript is analysed for semantic similarity between sentence groups within a configurable time window (default 60 seconds). Retakes and false starts are identified by pattern matching on the sentence-level token sequence. Results include type, both take timecodes and scores.
Each detected repetition is shown as a pair in the panel. You see the text of both takes, their scores and the recommended cut. Approve the recommendation or select the alternative. Click Apply and the lower-scoring take is removed with frame-accurate cuts on your duplicated sequence.
